Remembering Dr. Francis Ho

Dr Francis Chung Wai Ho, one of our CCMSBC Honorary Members, passed away peacefully in his home on February 5, 2021. Dr. Ho is a well-known physician, pioneer, leader, educator, and fund-raiser in our community. For 56 years, Dr.Ho practiced as a family physician in Vancouver office , and both Saint Paul's and Mount St Joseph Hospitals.  In addition to the care of his patients, he was passionate about his community, volunteering at every level. He participated in, directed and hosted many health forums, both in person and through radio and television, educating audiences beyond his patients.

Dr. Ho’s passing is a huge loss for our Chinese Medical Community, but his professionalism, dedication and love will be remembered.

CCMS(BC) Statement Against Racism

The Chinese Canadian Medical Society of BC (CCMSBC) is a group of physicians, residents and students aimed at promoting health awareness in the Chinese community and advocate health concerns of Chinese Canadians.
Racism exists in many forms on both individual and systemic levels.  As an organization, we stand firmly against any type of racism and discrimination.  The CCMSBC promotes equality and diversity within our community.  Everyone should have equal access to care, education, and to all public and private services.  Everyone should be treated equally without any bias, stereotypes or discriminations based on race, colour, descent, or ethnic origins.

Your Input Needed in a Survey

Have you experienced racism as a Chinese-Canadian? With the re-emergence of racism back in the spotlight in the minds of many, the Chinese-Canadian Medical Society of BC (CCMSBC) would like to know if our members or non-members who identify as Chinese-Canadian have been affected by racism in the past or present. As an organization hoping to serve the needs of and advocate for Chinese-Canadians physicians, trainees, and patients, your input on this survey is highly appreciated: https://forms.gle/cd9K2YVc13SGyRCW6
This survey is an initial scoping assessment to better understand the current landscape. Your experiences and input shared on this survey will be used to identify the best possible avenues to pursue in support of our members and the Chinese-Canadian community.

All responses will remain anonymous unless you have otherwise specified. Please keep in mind patient confidentiality when sharing stories.

If you are a non-member and would like to become involved with our organization, please contact us through our website: http://ccmsbc.org/
