The BC Lung Screen Trial

The BC Lung Screen Trial is a study on the early detection and treatment of lung cancer, and free for the first 2000 patients.

This study is a pilot program taking place at Vancouver General Hospital that offers lung cancer screening using low-dose CT scans to participants at higher risk of developing lung cancer. 

To be eligible for this study, participants must: 

·      be between55 and 80 years of age

·      be current or former smokers

·      have either ≥30-pack-yearsof smoking history oran estimated 6-year lung cancer risk ≥1.51%based on a validated risk prediction model (calculated by study staff)

We encourage you to refer all eligible and interested individuals aged 55-80 who have smoked for 20 years or more, and our study staff will follow-up with your patient directly to obtain their detailed smoking history and determine their eligibility.

An Invitation to a CCMS dinner with renowned neurologist Dr. Anthony Traboulsee of the UBC Centre for Brain Health

The Chinese Canadian Medical Society of BC is hosting an exciting dinner with Dr. Anthony Traboulsee as speaker. A renowned local neurologist, Dr. Traboulsee will be speaking about various neurological conditions, including those associated with higher prevalence rates among Asian patients. He will also touch upon the current state of research and standards of care relating to these conditions. Interested physicians will also be encouraged to ask questions of Dr. Traboulsee.google

The dinner event will from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Sun Sui Wah Restaurant, located at 3888 Main Street in Vancouver.

Anthony Traboulsee, M.D.

Tony Traboulsee is a Professor of Neurology and Research Chair of the MS Society of Canada at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is the Head of the MS and Neuromyelitus Optica Program at UBC Hospital. His research focus is on establishing new MRI tools for monitoring remyelination in Multiple Sclerosis.  He was the lead author on Consortium of MS Centers international MRI guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of MS and co-author on the International Panel Diagnostic Criteria for Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder and the International Panel Diagnostic Criteria for Multiple Sclerosis.

He has been the principal investigator for over 30 clinical trials at UBC. He is a member of the Brain Health in MS international policy report (www.msbrainhealth.org). His overarching treatment philosophy for relapsing MS is to engage patients in personalized treatment goals as early as possible, to use the most effective and safest therapies available, especially during the critical first decade of the disease.

CCMSBC Members Visit Hong He, Qing Dao

CCMSBC Members Participate in Medical Exchange Program in Yunnan Province, (云南省) China

September was a lively month for the Doctors of CCMSBC.  Six CCMSBC members, Drs. Kwang Yang, Hilary Hui, Susan Kwan, Caoyang Jiang, Jane Wu, and Jen Yu, attended a medical exchange program, travelling to Hong He (红河哈尼族彝族自治州), Yunnan, China, which was held from Sept. 14-20. The team also visited Qingdao (青岛) to participate in this year’s Annual Meeting of The World Association of Chinese Doctors (WACD). Other CCSMSBC Drs. Xin-Yong Wang, Youwen Zhou, and Jenny Wang also joined our trip to Qingdao.

A Wonderful Gala, AGM 2018

CCMSBC Gala / AGM 2018

CCMSBC 33rd Annual Gala / AGM was held at Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, on May 12, 2018.  About 200 CCMSBC members and their guests attended the event.

Among the guests attending the GALA, we were honored to host Dr. Eric Cadesky, President-Elect, Doctors of B.C; Mr. Kong Wei Wei, Deputy Consul General, Ms. Yu Hai Ying, Consul, Consulate General of the People's Republic of China;  Mr. Donnie Wing, Chair of Board of Directors, SUCCESS; Ms. Queenie Choo, CEO of SUCCESS; Dr. Fan Ming, President of Washington Association of Chinese American Physicians.

Dr. Xinyong Wang, CCMSBC President, Mr. Kong Wei Wei, and Dr. Eric Cadesky addressed the assembly.

We enjoyed a wonderful three-course Sablefish dinner, and many took part on the dance floor, with the music of classical rock of Beatles by amazing The Day Trippers.

Thanks to Dr. Thomas Wong, MC, Destiny Lu-Cleary, Jacky Tang, Rayleigh Chan, and many volunteers, our members and their guests enjoyed a great evening.  A photo album is available now.

Dr. Jenny Wang's New Book

Congratulations to Dr. Jenny Wang for her new book titled "Farewell to infertility" (告别不孕症)!

Dr. Wang is a life member of CCMSBC, who  has been practicing as an obstetrician/ Gynecologist in China, US and Canada. She is currently working at Grace Fertility Center.
Knowing the infertility is more and more common among Chinese couples, and most Chinese women lack of the basic knowledge of their own reproductive system, she wrote this book to help. 

This book explains the basic anatomy and physiology of women’s reproductive system; the possible causes of infertility; The basic knowledge of Assisted Reproductive Technology and how to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
