Scholarship 2017

The winner of CCMSBC Scholarship 2017:  Ziqi Liu (Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Toronto). Congratulations! (How to apply?)

Ziqi Liu is a recent graduate of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and will be studying Life Sciences at the University of Toronto this fall. He hopes to pursue a double major in Biochemistry and Pharmacology.

Outside of school, Ziqi enjoys volunteering his time. His extensive experience includes being a pharmacy assistant at a local Shoppers Drug Mart, a tutor for the Learning Buddies Network, a Junior Instructor for GEERing Up at the University of British Columbia, as well as a science facilitator at the Telus World of Science. Recently, he won the YMCA Power of Peace Award for Social Change Leaders for his efforts as the Director of Student Representation of the British Columbia Student Alliance. He has also held many fundraisers for the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre to improve the resources available for local youth, even winning the RBC Make 150 Count Award to educate elementary students in his community about healthy eating.

In his spare time, Ziqi enjoys exploring abandoned warehouses and rooftops amid the urban sprawl of Vancouver. Beyond surfing the web, playing video games, and reading novels, Ziqi is also a seasoned musician. He has been playing the piano since the age of 6, and passed his grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music Exam in 2014. He has also won the University of Toronto Schools John & Margaret Withrow Music Scholarship Award for his exceptional performances on the saxophone. Recently, Ziqi has been teaching himself how to play the guitar and drums.
